This is a way better than average slasher movie. The story is intelligent and the acting is very good. Lee Grant is excellent as the "woman in peril" who can deal with her own peril. William Shatner serves as a sort of "red herring", never really doing much but constantly leading the audience to expect him to save the day -- after all he is Captain Kirk. Michael Ironside gives a fine performance as the only believable (except for the expected near immortality) serial killer in the entire genre. This one is a classic that deserves to rank somewhere close behind Psycho and The Lodger.
